If you’ve already checked regular verbs and how to use them, you’re probably ready to move on! Are you ready for irregular verbs?

The irregular verbs in Spanish are a bit different. We need to memorize some of their forms, or they can also follow patterns. Here’s a full guide to what you need to know about irregular verbs:

Let’s start with the ones we need to memorize. The best way to learn these verbs is to organize them into groups cause some of them are very similar. And this will show you those similarities:

As you can see, the chart shows the verbs that share some similarities in their patterns, and this is exactly what helps us memorize them faster. If we forget one of them, we can always recall a similar one. Also, you don’t need to memorize each of the conjugations because, as you can see in the chart not all the forms are irregular. In fact, the majority of them are just irregular in the “YO” form which makes the path easier too!

There are some other irregular not added on this chart and of course we are algo going to study them:

Verbs with ending: VOWEL +CER /CIR

the group of these verbs are composed by verbs similar to:

CONOCER, CRECER, TRADUCIR, PRODUCIR

All these verbs share one thing: they have a vowel + “cer” or “cir” ending.
In the present tense, they are regular except for the first person singular (yo form), where we add a “z” before the “c”.

For example, with conocer we would expect yo conoco, but instead it becomes:
yo conozco.

After that, the rest of the conjugations behave like a regular verb:

CONOZCO, CONOCES, CONOCE, CONOCEMOS, CONOCEN.

PRODUZCO, PRODUCES, PRODUCE, PRODUCIMOS, PRODUCEN.

CREZCO, CRECES, CRECE, CRECEMOS, CRECEN.

TRADUZCO, TRADUCES, TRADUCE, TRADUCIMOS, TRADUCEN.

Now I’ve prepared some activities to improve on these verbs because the best way of improving is by repeating!
